Microneedling

with PRF (Platelet-Rich-Fibrin)
or Pigment Regulator

Traditionally, microneedling was initially introduced for skin rejuvenation therapy, however, now it is being used for a wide range of indications including acne scars, post-traumatic/burn scar, alopecia, skin rejuvenation, drug delivery, hyperhidrosis, stretch marks and more.

Research has shown that microneedling enhances the delivery of various drugs across the skin barrier as it bypasses the stratum cornium and deposits the drug directly up to the vascularized dermis.

Microneedling has been a great treatment for me because it has minimal downtown and does not use heat like traditional lasers, which worsens my melasma.

I finished my series of microneedling treatments with Lisa and my skin hasn’t looked this amazing in years.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as percutaneous collagen induction therapy (CIT), is a non-ablative aesthetic medical procedure that uses a handheld fractional device to increase the formation of new healthy tissue. It is designed to treat various skin conditions such as fine lines and wrinkles, light scarring from acne and sun damage, and to improve skin textural changes and color.

SKN is an exclusive provider of COSMOPen, a state-of-the-art medical grade high speed microneedling System. It offers the same results as a fractional laser without pain, downtime, expense, and thermal damage. COSMOPen can be used to treat acne and surgical scars, as well as wrinkles, stretch marks, pore size, and signs of aging.

Additionally, by vertically piercing the skin, COSMOPen helps naturally induce collagen production and treat pigmentation. COSMOPen Microneedling treatments can be combined with the plateletrich fibrin (PRF), the newest talked-of-the-town topics in aesthetics.

How does
it work?

A handheld fractional microneedling device containing multiple fine, sterile needles is used to create thousands of microscopic channels throughout the skin layers, which increases the production of new tissue by activation the body’s would healing cascade (hemostasis-inflammation-proliferation-tissue remodeling).

The controlled micro-wounds are rebuilt with new granulation cells and a network of blood vessels, resulting in an increase of elastin and collagen and fresh, new dermal tissue.

Research has shown that treatment results are enhanced with the use of your own PRF (plasma rich fibrin) topically applied to the treatment area. PRF is a concentrated form of growth factors derived from your own blood to accelerate the healing and regenerative process.

What can
I Expect?

What you can expect during your visit:

  1. The treatment area will be thoroughly cleansed.
  2. A thin layer of topical anesthetic will placed on the treatment area(s) for approximately 15-20 minutes.
  3. If you are adding PRF (plasma rich fibrin) to your treatment, a small sample of blood will be drawn and placed into a centrifuge to separate the plasma from the blood.
  4. The anesthetic will be fully removed.
  5. A thin application of treatment serum or PRF will be placed on the skin to assist during the first application of the treatment. Additional applications are applied to the treatment area in conjunction with serum or PRF.

Anticipated Results

Your skin may be moderately pink to red with minor swelling similar to that of a sunburn or windburn, which typically subsides over 24 hours. We recommend avoiding sun exposure immediately following treatment and using sun block on a daily basis. You will notice an immediate glow while the tone and texture continue to improve as new collagen continues to be laid down for approximately three to six months after treatment.

A series of at least three to four treatments spaced about four to six weeks apart are recommended. A yearly maintenance treatment will help maintain results.
